Agd was contacted to tender for safeguarding upgrades to the schools perimeter consisting of automatic entrance gates with a video intercom and fob readers, automatic exit gates with auto exit and fob readers, automatic staff gates with fob readers, auto exit and a manual pedestrian gate with video intercom and fob readers to secure the site, this entrance was also to be newly created in the boundary line hedge/fence of the site. After a full technical survey quotes were submitted for tender and accepted.

Drawings were submitted and accepted, ordered and confirmed for manufacture.Installation was planned and started during the school holidays to minimise disruption with the creation of the pedestrian gate opening first, the opening was created, dug out and concrete filled to create a new pathway with 100mm posts installed to hang the pedestrian gate to. New curbs were installed along with reshaping existing curbs to create a dropped curb into the school. The gate was hung and intercom fitted with exit fob reader, control box frame, control box and ducting for cabling.

Power connection ducting was then channelled out access the carpark to the schools electrical distribution room for connection by others along with separate ducting for the access control cabling to be connected to the existing access control within the school.

Next the 120mm steel posts were installed at the three vehicle gate sites and safety loops were cut into the existing tarmac, laid and bitumen sealed, underground automation was then installed and ducting connecting the automation to the control boxes.

Fencing was also installed to join the new posts to the existing fences. Power and control wire ducting was channelled, installed and backfilled between each gate, control boxes and frames installed also at each gate, all cabling and ducting was then connected to the control boxes.

Intercoms and fob access systems were installed via swan neck posts at the entrance and staff gates with fob readers on the posts at the exit gates for access if needed, the auto exit loop would detect vehicles and open the gate but the customer requested access via fobs as well, all wiring was installed and connected, fireman switches were also installed to allow the fire brigade to gain access through the entrance gate and the staff gate in the event of an emergency.

Safety devices were fitted to all vehicle gates consisting of rubber safety edges on each gate to automatically reverse the gates in the opposite direction if it came into contact with an object to prevent a crushing hazards and photocells to prevent the gate closing on vehicles.

The systems were then programmed and commissioned and the access control all programmed by others to the existing school intercom system to call the existing colour video monitor and be able to open the corresponding gates should a visitor call the intercom.

The systems were force tested and demonstrated including manual release procedures to the school and conformity paperwork signed to officially hand the system over. The site now conforms to all perimeter safeguarding procedures.
